Unit 1 Portfolio

Adrián Caballero                                                  Baron Analysis The main author Dennis Baron covers a very interesting topic about technology and how it has affected our lives over the past hundreds of years. Us as humans are always trying to improve ourselves and our communities around us. By this we have to be creative with what we do and invent new things that do not exist yet to make what we already have better. This can either be adding airbags to a car or safety fire equipment to a building. But Barron goes over more controversial stuff such the integration of new technology and how it affected our societies. For example when calculators were implemented into classrooms, teachers would not approve of them since the...

Unit 1 Reflection

Unit 1 Reflection            In my unit 1 project, I went over the various ways that technology affects us in our everyday lives. It is sometimes crazy to think that we went from being cavemen living like wild animals to the immense advancements that we have and the many more to come. When looking for sources, the biggest thing that I had to search for was the quality of the information given out. I felt that when searching through the texts I found the best I could find online regarding this technological era. We got to choose 3 sources for ourselves and I decided to stick with the one professor Weiner gave us from the author Baron and 2 others that I picked out for myself. My second source was by far my best one as the author directly talks...

Free Writes Unit 1

Image
I appreciated the free write on 2/1/18 because it made us think about the good things we have about ourselves. Many times as regular human beings, we can be pretty harsh on ourselves and not appreciate the skills and the good things that we have. By doing this, we practice positivity which helps us stay happy, even at bad times in our life. We have to remember that there is always someone that goes through bigger struggles than us and would die to have our lives.

"Surveys, Polls, Quizzes"

European Geography Quiz In this quiz, we were given a map where we had to respond name every single country of Europe in less than 8 minutes. The average score it said was 74% and I got a 68% right at the end of it. This was a very impressive score to me when I saw it as people usually don't know much geography but after a while of thinking I came to realize that these people were most likely Europeans. I think geography is very important, especially to not be ignorant and really know what is outside of your country. When we watch the news we must know where the news come from to understand it and not just think that's some random country that we don't care about. For example when we send our troops to go fight in a different continent, I can guarantee you that most people wouldn't be able to point out these countries on a map or even state a single city like it's capital. Or when our government is going to sign a treaty with another from a different country, we s...

What I Eat

Image
The Different Kinds of Food I eat Year Round Paella: A common Spanish dish that is served in the summer, usually the best on the beach as the seafood tends to be more fresh. I eat this whenever I go back to Madrid during breaks. Chipotle: My savior for when the dining hall food is atrocious and I need some real food to satisfy my belly. SU Dining hall food: My main source of food intake during the year. You know it's a good day if they put out chicken tenders and yes... each meal does cost $17. Dorm Snacks: Usually the mainstream snacks that everyone has to satisfy that midnight crave or even fill up my belly if the dining hall food was gross. Sushi: The first thing I always have whenever I go back to visit my other side of the family in California. The competition between restaurants is so high in San Francisco that I am always guaranteed to have a good meal whenever I go. Adrián Caballero      ...
